{"id":7762,"date":"2020-01-14T11:59:58","date_gmt":"2020-01-14T16:59:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.cfsri.org\/?p=7762"},"modified":"2020-01-14T11:59:58","modified_gmt":"2020-01-14T16:59:58","slug":"advocacy-wins-for-babies-in-2019","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/childrensfriendri.org\/2020\/01\/14\/advocacy-wins-for-babies-in-2019\/","title":{"rendered":"Advocacy Wins for Babies in 2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-7763\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cfsri.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/thinkbabies.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"380\" height=\"202\" srcset=\"https:\/\/childrensfriendri.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/thinkbabies.jpg 380w, https:\/\/childrensfriendri.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/thinkbabies-300x159.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 380px) 100vw, 380px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>At Children\u2019s Friend, advocacy is core to our identity.&nbsp; In fact, it\u2019s one of our five principles: <strong>\u201cWe take a leadership role in educating policymakers and the public on the needs of the youngest and most vulnerable children, even when it means taking risks for the benefit of children.\u201d<\/strong>&nbsp; We believe that we can\u2019t truly serve children and families without also advocating with and for them.&nbsp; As 2019 draws to a close, we look back together on the state of policy and advocacy for children nationally and in Rhode Island.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>ZERO TO THREE reports advocacy advances<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>ZERO TO THREE, a national organization working to ensure that all babies and toddlers have a strong start in life, just released their list of top advocacy wins for babies in 2019 (LINK: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.zerotothree.org\/resources\/3096-top-policy-and-advocacy-wins-for-babies-in-2019\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">https:\/\/www.zerotothree.org\/resources\/3096-top-policy-and-advocacy-wins-for-babies-in-2019<\/a>). &nbsp;Rhode Island Think Babies affiliate and Children\u2019s Friend partner Rhode Island KIDS COUNT was recognized for their work supporting rate-increases for infant and toddler child care.&nbsp; Paid leave and home visiting were brought forward on the national level and in several states.&nbsp; We know there\u2019s still so far to go, here in RI, for babies and toddlers in detention at the southern border and in facilities across the US, and around the nation \u2013 and we\u2019ll be raising our voices in the legislature and in the streets in 2020. &nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cThere are 12 million infants and toddlers in the U.S., each born with unlimited potential.
